Coast Capital Savings has provided a secure method for our customers to communicate with us. But you need to ensure your use of a computer is secure from malicious software and activity.

Protect the information on your PC

Keep your home computer up to date

Ensure your operating system, web browser, and applications have the most current updates. See the videos on our Online Banking Security page to learn more.

Anti-virus program

Install and use a quality anti-virus program and ensure it is updated regularly. See the videos on our Online Banking Security page to learn more.

Anti-spyware program

Install and use a quality anti-spyware program and ensure it is updated regularly.

Firewall

Install and use a quality firewall program. See the videos on our Online Banking Securitypage to learn more.

Public computers

Whenever possible, avoid using computers that have been setup for shared public purposes, such as internet cafes, libraries, and even hotels. Use of these computers substantially increases your risk of possible account compromise.

Internet browser

Make sure you have a current version of your Internet browser installed. We support browsers with encryption 128 bit or higher. This is the strongest publicly available encryption protection today.

Log-off & close browser

Never leave your PC unattended while using our Coast Online Banking Services. Always exit our Coast Online Banking Services and your Internet browser if you step away from your PC. Your Internet browser software may retain information you entered in the login screen and elsewhere until you exit the browser.

Clean your cache

Secure or erase files stored on your PC by your Internet browser so others cannot read them. Most Internet browsers store information in non-protected (unencrypted) files in the browser's cache to improve performance. The files remain there until they are erased.

No automatic passwords

Disable automatic password save features in your Internet browser and software that you use to access the Internet.

Safe browsing

To ensure a safe and secure Internet session, only visit reputable sites. If you visit any questionable web site before Coast Online Banking, we recommend you close your browser and restart it before proceeding to Coast Online Banking.
Protect the information on your Mac

Yes, Macs can get viruses too. To protect yourself against possible virus or security threats on your Mac, install and use a quality anti-virus program and ensure it is updated regularly. And don't forget to enable your firewall.

Similar to PC users, Mac users should take the following precautions:

  • Disable automatic password save features in your Internet browser and software that you use to access the Internet.
  • Only visit reputable websites before using Coast Online Banking.
  • Never leave your computer unattended while using Coast Online Banking. Log off and close your browser before you walk away.
