Coast Capital strengthens disaster response through partnership with the Canadian Red Cross

Surrey, BC / Toronto, ON. (November 25, 2024) - Coast Capital announced a significant partnership with the Canadian Red Cross‘s Disaster Response Alliance (DRA) which aims to enhance community resilience in the face of increasing natural disasters. This collaboration comes in response to the growing frequency of catastrophic events such as hurricanes, floods, wildfires and extreme weather conditions.

Coast Capital has committed to investing $250,000 annually to the DRA to bolster the safety and protection of Canadian communities.

The DRA unites major Canadian organizations like  Canadian Tire, Rogers and Loblaws to take a proactive stance on disaster preparedness. In 2023, more than 81,000 people in Canada were supported by the Red Cross after an emergency thanks in part to the steadfast support of DRA members. By pre-positioning supplies and readying disaster response teams, the alliance ensures that communities are ready for emergencies before they occur.

“Coast Capital has a long history of supporting the resilience of our members, employees and communities in times of crisis,” said Tanya Smith, Senior Manager of Social Purpose. “As the frequency of disasters across the country increases, we recognize the necessity of a robust, year-round disaster response program. This partnership allows us to go beyond reactive donations and invest in proactive measures that better prepare and safeguard our communities.”

“I am pleased to welcome Coast Capital to the Canadian Red Cross’s Disaster Response Alliance,” says Tom Scinto, Director of Corporate Partnerships with the Canadian Red Cross. “This three-year partnership exemplifies the deep-rooted commitment and leadership position being taken by Coast Capital, to support the work of the Red Cross before, during and after disasters strike communities here at home and overseas.”
