Let's work together to address youth homelessness.

At Coast Capital, we’ve made a promise to build a richer future for youth in our communities. And we keep our promises. We’re committed to empowering youth to succeed in life. One way we do this is by providing housing and support so homeless youth can gain the skills they need to become self-sufficient.

Why homeless youth?

We're a financial institution, so why are we so dedicated to helping homeless youth? The answer is simple: because these young people need our help. We believe in helping youth build a strong foundation to succeed in life, and having a roof over head is essential.

The numbers speak for themselves.

Covenant House Vancouver provided us with some stats around youth homelessness:

  • Covenant House estimates that on any given night, there are between 500-1000 youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
  • 70% of youth Covenant House works with have witnessed family violence
  • 50% of youth Covenant House works with struggle with substance misuse
  • 50% have aged out of foster care
  • Many have not completed high school and have no work experience
  • 39% have been diagnosed with a mental illness

Empowering youth year-round.

Every year, Coast Capital invests 7% of our budgeted pre–tax profits towards local community causes. Since 2000, that's more than $71 million.

Because youth face many challenges on their journey to independence, Coast Capital Savings strategically invests and works alongside our community partners to break down many of the barriers that young people face while empowering them with the skills they need to succeed.
